Summary
The story begins in a College.A little girl named Lyra Silvertongue is very naughty and rude.The college is her home.Her uncle, Lord Asriel, took her there to live.She usually canse mischiet and goes in traek.And the the Master doesn't have any idea about this.
She lives in the College happily.Everyone is her friend.She has a best friend named Roger.They play together.One time,they find a cellar,and go in it together.But one day,Roger disappears.Someone tells Lyra the Gobblins took him away,so Lyra decides to rescue Roger and all the other kids the Gobblins have taken ,but she can't find anyone willing to go with her ,so she stays at the College.
One day,some scholars come to visit the Master Of the College.One of them is a beautiful lady.They call her Mrs.Coulter.She wants to take Lyra away and look after her .Lyra is very happy because she likes Mrs.Coulter very much,she is smart and intelligent.Before Lyra goes,the Master gives a compass and tells her not to show it to Mrs. Coulter.
Mrs.Coulter is an explorer.Her reserrch title is the same us Lyra's uncle.She takes care of Lyra,and teaches her geography.Lyra is very happy,but startle, she is too nice.At the party one night.Lyra learns met her uncle was also cidnapped by the Gobblins,so she runs away from Mrs.Coulter.She wants to resuces Roger and her uncle.
She runs away and undergoes many tnialsand mi lations.Finally someone strikes up a conversation with her. Fortunately, and hus gury she is smart,so she run away.She gots the attack,too.Her friend’s brother rescue her. They take Lyra to meet John Faa.
John Faa a nice person.He wants to rescue the kids,too.When he meets Lyra he tells Lyra her Lord Astrile is her father and Mrs.Coulter is her mother.He even Knows about the golden compass,and he gives her book about it .She reads the book very diligently .A few days later.She learns how to use it .
Then they go to the North.Lyra meets a bear named Lorek Byrnision.Lyra rides the bear to go to find the Gobbins.She sees the watchers on the street,and she tells John.But they still decide to go to theGobblins’ base.While en route,Lyra find out Lorek Byrnsion is the king of the bears.Lorek even fought an other bear for the throne.When they get to the place the Gobblins have imprisoned her father in.
They are attacked,and Lyra is saved by a fly ship. She proceeds to the Gobblinsprison.
Lord Asriel is very happy to see Lyra come.Especially since she has brought her friend Roger. He needs a kid to finish his research.At night, the Lord calls Roger to wake up and fellow him.He takes him to a different room,and starts the research.When the Lord’s servant tells Lyra about her father’s schemes,She goes to stop her father from killing Roger.IP then Lyra and Roger run away .Her father and her mother meet again.Lyra though listens to their talk.Finially, they stay separated.Lyra has another objective.It's the same as her parents:To find out the secret of the Dast”.
My thought
This story is exciting and tortnous at the same time.When I started to reading ,I was confused .This book was the the first English book more even read.At first I. It was very uncomfortablen for me.Later,I got osed to it.As I grew accustumed I was happy and thebook be come interesting.
I think this book is very imaginative. The Author had some very nice ideas writing this book .The character are life like.Like in part twenty,Lorek Byrnision fights a bear.It's name is Lofur Raknison.Both of them want to be king of the bears. In the end of the batrk . Lorek wins.He is still the king of the bears.The battle is write nina very exciting way,but it’s a little frightening. I got drunk on the story,and I could't stpe urning the page of this book, I forgetting to sleep.However, this book’s gruatest merit is that it is exciting and Interesting.
Lyra is my favorite character in this book,because she has something I want to have : She is smart and clever.Expecially when she wants to get something done .She always is successfu . Maybe it's because she grows up in a College.No one will teach her or scold her,so she can do want she wants .But I am different .My parents will carrect me and scold me all the time.
I don’t like the book's ending.I’m upset with it.I like happy endings, but this story isn’t really finished.I'm sure the author will write a second the next book,”The Golden Compass Two”.I hope the ending of that will be happily.
I can’t find any defectsin the contest,because this book is the author’s best effort.If I read this book it means I affirm this or I shouldn't read it..I feel like I can’t criticize it.However, I have some ideas about the book’s paper.The book is printed on flimsy paper.When I write some thing, it soaked tnrovsh to the next page.It was very inconvenient.
What I learned
Lyra is a good girl.When she wants to do something .she will try many methods to make it happen .This is contrary to me. I’m a good girl ,too,but it’s just in my mind, I don’t have an idea what I want for myself.My parents dictate what I do .I just fellow them.When I finish this book, I tealiced I need to attemept to do what I want and be who I want to be .Now I’m growing up .I can’t just listen to my parents.I need my own ideatily .I can learn from Lyra’s merits to make myself stronger and more independent.
This book itpersents many “firsts” for me : The first time I read an English book;the first time I spent a lot of time to read;the first time I wrote an English book report.This book made me stronger and proved I could do it.When I finished reading this book, I felt I had achieved something .I learned how to read in the English better.I learned how to write on English book report .I learned faster than my classmates.I read faster than them,so my English is better than theirs.Reading an English book can also help me learn new vocabulary.
In couclusion, I don’t think this story is finished.I guess there will be a second book. I also realiced that not just”Harry Potter” is interestring.I can try to read others books ,and maybe I can learn more .I know people all have dreams,and their dreams are different. Animals also have feeling and emotion.We all do what we want to do ,and don’t think of other people .The question is just one of capacity.Some people's passior is little,but some people's is strong.Lyra has a strong passon.I have little passion.It’s what is diffirent between us.I’m starting to get stronger pusson,I tell myself ,too .Too little and too much pusson both are bad.
This book was very nice to read.I think it’s the loost book I've ever read.I will enjoy to reading the English books in the future,
